Royal Hound is a portrait atelier built on a rendering engine, and we don’t hide it. The engine paints three studies in parallel, each one is scored against your photograph for likeness, and nothing goes further until you approve one. The technology is the brush. The standard — does this look like your dog — is the atelier.

One honest phone photo is the whole brief. Window light beats flash, eye level beats standing above, and a clear view of the face beats everything. The photograph is the standard every study is measured against — choose the one that looks like them.

The engine paints three interpretations in parallel, free, within minutes — drawn from a library of 253 styles across 22 collections. Three, because a single attempt asks you to settle and ten asks you to curate. Three is a choice.

the LIKENESS EXAMINATION
Every study is scored against your photograph before it reaches you. The markings, the set of the ears, the particular look your dog gives you — a study that fails the examination is not shown, it is discarded.

your APPROVAL
Nothing is printed, framed, or charged until you approve the study worth keeping. Approved portraits leave the atelier as museum-grade prints, or as a digital file. Your dog, your verdict, then the making.

What does a commission cost?
The three studies are free. You pay only when you approve a study and choose its format — a print or a digital file — and every price is shown before checkout.
How long do the studies take?
Minutes, not weeks. The engine paints all three in parallel while you wait.
What photograph works best?
Daylight, eye level, and the face unobstructed. It does not need to be professional — the portrait of Chauncey on our homepage began as a phone photo taken in the back seat of a car.
Is this painted by a person?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. A rendering engine paints; the likeness examination and your approval judge. What you hang is measured against your dog, not against our taste.
Do you paint cats?
The engine will paint any companion beautifully — but everything here, from the curated styles to the name on the door, was built for dogs.
